Time Dilation: A simple mathematical approach

Updated: Apr 24

A key part of Einstein's genius lay in his ability to intuit complex phenomena and illustrate them in a way that could be understood by even a relative layman. Here, I have included a video giving a brief overview of how Einstein came up with a special consequence of his Special Theory of Relativity, time dilation.

Something worth mentioning is the beauty represented by Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity. The universe is in balance. One can't conventionally approach the speed of light without effecting time. You also can't approach the speed of light without a tremendous output of energy and E = mc^2 shows us that an increase in energy equates to an increase in mass which acts as a feedback loop on the energy keeping us from achieving light speed in any normal way. The beauty of these laws as laid out in the theory are a basis for our understanding of so many things. From planetary movement, to making sure your GPS tracks you accurately. As Bill Nye used to say in his show, Science Rules!
